Position Title: Long-Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher

Location: Aura Elementary School/Elk Township Public Schools

Duration: Late August 2026 – Early October 2026

Classification: Full-Time, Temporary (Long-Term Leave)

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated educator to join our primary team as a Long-Term Leave Replacement Kindergarten Teacher for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

The ideal candidate will establish a warm, structured, and welcoming classroom environment from day one, ensuring our youngest learners experience a seamless and positive transition into elementary school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Implement age-appropriate, engaging, and hands-on lessons in early literacy, foundational mathematics, and social-emotional development.
  • Classroom Management: Establish clear routines, expectations, and a positive classroom culture that promotes independence and a growth mindset.
  • Assessment & Tracking: Monitor student progress through formative checks and observational data to support individual learning needs.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the kindergarten grade-level team to align lesson plans and maintain proactive, warm communication with families.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate State Teaching Certification (e.g., NJ P-3, Elementary K-6, or equivalent certification/eligibility).
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development, foundational literacy (phonics/phonemic awareness), and play-based learning.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.

Position Title: Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher

Location: Aura Elementary School/Elk Township Public Schools

Duration: Late August 2026 – Late November  2026

Classification: Full-Time, Temporary (Long-Term Leave)

Position Overview

The preschool team is seeking a dedicated educator to join us as a Long-Term Leave Replacement Preschool Teacher for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

The ideal individual will implement developmentally appropriate, play-based instruction that supports the academic, social-emotional, physical, and language development of preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Creative Curriculum and New Jersey Preschool Teaching & Learning Standards.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence.
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
  • Observe, assess, and document student progress.
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and all state preschool regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and play-based instruction.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with young children and families.
