Child Connection Center
The Child Connection Center, known as the CCC, is a social-emotional learning (SEL) program that proactively partners with teachers and parents to support the mental and emotional health of all students.
What we do:
- Classroom lessons teaching social skills, how to take care of strong feelings, making smart choices, etc.
- Small group counseling
- Short term individual counseling
- Positive reinforcement and behavior support plans
- Consultation with parents and teachers
- Community resource referrals (including longer term therapy services
What topics we focus on during class lessons and counseling sessions:
- Managing strong feelings
- Adjusting to new routines
- Making and keeping healthy friendships
- Teamwork
- Feeling good about yourself and positive self esteem
- Making smart choices
- Being responsible
- Conflict resolution with peers
How the CCC can support parents:
- Helping to manage the social and emotional concerns you have about your child
- Improving parent-child communication
- Partnering to address behavior concerns at school
- Family difficulties or concerns that affect your child's success at school
- Referrals for community resources
- Helping parents understand the developmental changes of childhood
How does a child receive CCC services?
- self referral especially for older grades
- parent referral
- administrative, teacher or other staff referral
